Kamiakin played Kennewick on Saturday in the state playoffs. It just so happens, that both schools are in Kennewick, Washington. Pretty cool, huh?
Kamiakin won 22-14 and we are now in the final 4 for the 3A division!!

Bellevue will travel here on Saturday to play in the snow(maybe) and cold. We had snow coming down last Saturday. Bellevue is from the Seattle area and the same team we played in the state championship last year. That is the only game we've lost in 2 seasons! We'll be ready for them this time.

What a Busy & Fun Weekend!

Friday was a day off of work. Tyke and I went grocery shopping. OUCH!! Too much to buy to fill the cupboards.
Saturday was a bazaar jumping morning with my sister. We had fun and then took my neice Ashley to get her new phone activated. The afternoon was a great football game with Kamiakin playing Seattle Prep in round 1 of the State 3A Playoffs. They had a good lead of 14-0 in the 2nd quarter but we came back and beat them 28-14!! It was an exciting game to say the least. Our #1 QB was out this week with a broken finger. He will play this next weekend though. The #2 guy did a great job. He's got some talent.
Next Saturday we play our across town rival Kennewick HS. They have only lost 1 game this season and it was to us. We only have 2 more playoff games and then the championship on Dec. 2nd in Tacoma!

On Suday, I had lunch with 3 fun classmates! It was a hoot! We did manage to eat lunch during our over 3 hour meetup. There is just so much to talk about. It was a great afternoon and much needed!

It's a Sad Time Here

We lost my brother-in-law, Skip, on Sunday. We went over to Seattle on Friday morning. He'd been there for about 10 days after falling and breaking his back. This accident brought on some other major problems and we lost him. We still feel kind of numb.

It's been a bad week Folks

We started the week off with hearing that friends of mine were in a propane fire at their cabin. 3 of them have 2nd degree burns and they were all taken to a Seattle hospital. As of today (Sunday) 2 of them have been released and 1 will remain there for 3-4 weeks. This family and I have been friends almost forever. The mom and I were best friends in high school. She is the one that has to stay there for awhile.

Then, Tuesday night, we got a call from Mike's family. His older brother fell from his semi-truck and broke his back. He was flown to the same hospital in Seattle that my other friends are at. He had surgery on Wednesday. He went through it pretty well. It was a long one though. Now, he has something going on with his heart. They can't seem to get his blood pressure to stay normal. They are talking about surgery on him for that now, but not sure he would make it through it. They are not sure he will make it without it either. They think he has pnuemonia also which really complicates things. They are still not sure if he will be able to walk again.

Please keep him in your thoughts. He's in ICU and not doing very well at all. We will probably be going over there on the weekend, unless we have to go sooner. Mike and Tyke went over this weekend and he's in bad shape.

What a Crazy Week, Followed by a Busy Weekend!

Work has just been nuts!
I went to the freshman football game on Thursday. We WON!!
We went to the varsity game on Friday night. They called it the game of the year before the game. The 2 high schools even sold tickets at the schools that day. There were approximately 6800 tickets sold! The bleachers were packed! It was a close game and the referee's are jerks! Really!! They don't know the rules or what a penalty is! They all need to go back to referee school and do it soon!

We did win it so we're undefeated, but what a nail biter! I thought I'd have a stroke before it was done. 14-6 and we're on top again! We were ranked 5th in the state, so we'll see this week what the AP poles say.

Then on Saturday, I went with my sister and a friend to Prosser for the Great Prosser Balloon Rally. The balloons were so beautiful going up and the weather was awesome! I took lots of pictures of them. We went to the craft show, farmer's market and several shops. It was a wonderful day!

Well, here I am again!

High school football has started and even though we don't have a boy playing anymore, we are still going to the games. We have fun there seeing friends and since we still know some of the players, it's good. We're 2-0 so far. The season is starting off like last year. Go Kamiakin!

I'm starting to get some orders for the holidays to make up. Work has gone nuts recently.

There was a fire at Mike's work a couple weeks ago. It was on a Sunday night, so the place was closed and no one there. It did some bad damage though. He's still been working, but has had a couple days off. He left for deer camp (archery) this morning. I hope they get 1 or 2 between the 3 guys. It's still hot here and they deer won't be moving around as much.

I'm working on slippers and a pillow today for orders and watching NASCAR. I'm afraid that Biffle won't make the chase this year, but if he wins today, there's a chance.

College football is on too. GO WSU COUGS & BOISE STATE BRONCOS!! Kellen Moore grew up just a few miles from here.

Oh I almost forgot.......Hope Solo will be on Dancing with the Stars soon. She started her great soccer career here where she grew up!! I'll be rooting for Hope to win it all!!

It's been a long time since I've posted over here!

We lost the big state game, but what an incredible year we all had! It was amazing for the team, coaches and parents.

Andy has graduated and has a job with Les Schwab doing alignments. He really likes it there.

Mike and I are still working and haven't even gone camping all year. It's been a crazy year for us.

We just celebrated Mom's 80th birthday. It was a fun day at my SIL's house.

It's fair week here. We saw Joan Jett on Tuesday night and on Thursday we saw Kenny Rogers! He puts on a great show! Very entertaining and fun. I now have to have a cd for my ipod! His songs just keep going through my head. It was fun to see so many friends out there too.
I'm going to try to post on here more often. We'll see how that goes. :-)

Tomorrow is the Big Game!

We go to Tacoma in the morning so we can watch the Kamiakin Braves beat the Bellevue Wolverines! GO BRAVES!!!!

We're down to less than 24 hours until game time. The pass was pretty clear today for the team's drive over there. We're hoping that tomorrow will be a good drive too.

Those of you that can not attend can watch the game at 4:00pm on FSN (Fox Sports Network) If you're local and have Charter Cable, that's channel 37.

The Kamiakin Braves are undefeated and on Friday, Dec. 3rd, they play Bellevue for the state 3A football title!!! How great is that!! We plan to be there.

Today's game was amazing! It started with a text message from the coach asking the players to get parents, family and friends to come and shovel snow off the field so the game could stay here today. We went right down there and worked on the field and bleachers. The place looked pretty good and the crowd was packed!!

We beat Capital of Olympia and will now travel to the Tacoma Dome for the championship game!

We played Kelso here at home and won the game! 1st round of state playoffs done.
Next week we play Mt. Spokane, here at home again. The game is Saturday at 1:00pm. I sure hope the weather holds. The championship game is on Dec. 4th. There are 2 more games to win to get to Tacoma. GO BRAVES!! You can do it!!

It was cool yesterday, but dry and not windy. This morning it's rainy and cool. Mother Nature timed this weekend right!

I'm getting super busy with my Christmas orders now. Lots of slippers, pillows and wine cozies on order for folks. I love this time of year! It really gets my blook moving.

Andy played a few plays during the game after missing 3 weeks of games due to his injury. We went to Dairy Queen after the game and had burgers and ice cream. It was a great time with Mom and Sandi.

Sandi and I went bazaar jumping in the morning and had a fun day! I really love going out and seeing all the creative stuff people come up with and running into friends that we only see at this time of year.

The archery shoot was fun. We had minimal people, but decent weather for it. Those that decided not to go due to the morning rain missed a nice day.

Kamiakin won the preliminary football game last night, 56-7. Next week we play at home against either Kelso or Seattle Prep. We are 10-0 for the season! WooHoo!! Go Braves!

We have an archery shoot tomorrow. Mike and I will be doing registration again. We get to see so many of our friends that way. Hugs all around!

What a Week

We went to Wenatchee for the JV football game on Monday. We won in the rain too. It rained so much on us that our coats were wet on the inside!
We stayed at Mike's SIL and BIL's house for the night. Of course, on Tuesday it was a beautiful day to drive home. Nice and sunny!!

I got Andy into the specialist to get her opinion on his head injury from the game 2 weeks ago. His CT scan was great, no problems there. She said he should take the next week to workout and get back in shape before practicing with the team. Hopefully, he won't have any problems and he can start playing again. Kamiakin is in playoff mode now. It's so exciting! They play Southridge on Friday night.

Saturday, I plan to go to a few bazaars and Sunday we have an archery shoot to work at. It will be good to see some old friends.

Kamiakin HS Senior Night & Football Trophies

We walked out on the field with Andy for Senior Night before the football game. He's not suited up for the game, since he was injured 2 weeks ago. Still have to get him to a specialist.
The team won the game, which means they won the title of CBBN 3A League Champions. The large trophy is from KONA radio. They give out that traveling award to the team that they feel is #1. This year we are undefeated, 9-0 and headed to the playoffs for the state title. It was a very fun night for all of us!

Well, it's been a long couple of weeks here.

The boat races one weekend, the reunion the next and Dad's passing in between and me getting sick too. I go back to work today and maybe I can get my system back on track.

Dad's Celebration of Life was on Friday. It was a very good service. It's amazing the amount of people that made it there. We had over 150 signer's in the guestbook. Lots of extended family and friends to help and support us. My niece did a slideshow of Dad's life. It was great! We laughed, we cried and we made comments remembering him. He touched many lives and the stories will go on for many more years to come.

It was fun to catch up with my cousins that were in town. I arrived at Mom's Friday evening after the family dinner at Mom and Dad's favorite restaurant and some of my cousin's were already there. One 11yo boy was crying and holding his arm. Well, Mom had a bird's nest in the tree that was not in use any longer by the birds. He was climbing in the tree to get it and fell out. My cousin spent several hours in the emergency room with him finding out that he had broken both bones in the arm! What a bummer for him! They left here Saturday morning for their vacation. I heard from them on Sunday and they were just getting into Silverwood Theme Park for the day. He wasn't going to let a broken arm slow him down much, apparently.

Well, I'll have pictures to post later. I feel like I've been gone from work for a month, so much has happened since I was there. I have to drive to Connell tonight to pick up a truck for Andy to drive when he gets his license. Mike gets to drive it until then. I'll let you all know how that goes tonight. : )

30 Year Reunion Weekend

I have had a wonderful weekend! The fun isn't over yet though. We have a picnic today and then I'll have time for resting tomorrow.

It's been a hectic time for us this past month or so. We've been taking turns helping the take care of Dad and help Mom.

On Wednesday, July 29th, Dad passed away. We are very sad, but relieved that he is not suffering any longer. He fought it every step of the way. Mom, my sister in law and my son were all with him at the time.

The service is on August 7th so we can prepare everything.

We've been going through pictures for a slide show that my niece is going to put together. It's been quite interesting trying to figure out who some of those people are in them.

This weekend is my high school reunion and I've been busy helping with that also. It will be wonderful to see all my friends and then my family next week.

Dad's Been in the Hospital

Well, it's been a tough week for us here. Dad went into the hospital on a Thursday morning and was just released yesterday, 10 days later. He has terminal emphyzema. The doc's wanted to put him in a Skilled Nursing Facility. This would have been a special section of a nursing home. The day they were ready to move him, his stats all dropped and they couldn't take him. This was when we started talking about hospice help. On Friday we met with someone from there and by that afternoon, a bed and equipment were moved into Dad's family room and ready for him to come home. He stayed one more night at the hospital and his numbers were better and he was much more chatty with us and ready for home.

It's going to take some work and adjusting our schedules to be there to help Mom with moving him around, but we're determined to make him comfortable. He's not in any pain at all, which makes it easier for him right now.

My sister is leaving on Friday for Rio in Brazil on a business trip. She'll be gone 9 days.

Andy starts Football Camp on Monday. That means 2 practices a day all week. One at the stadium and the other in the evening several miles away at another school. Tyke will have to get him to the morning one and I plan to get him to the other.

That's where we're at for now.

Bikin' for Boobs Today at Jackson's

I've never been to this event before. A local bar/restaurant called Jackson's is have a poker run to earn money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation today. The poker run is this morning and then they have a BBQ, auction and a live band called Nasty Jack is playing. We're going for the BBQ, auction and band later today.

We went there the other night and I donated 2 of my crocheted boobie pillows for the auction and several of the beer cozies also with boobies on them for them to raffle off. I can't wait to see how well the pillows go over at this event. I've donated them to other auctions like our archery clubs and they've become an annual item. I did one with a pink back and border and the other is pink camouflage.

More hot air balloon pictures! Andy, Nina and I are planning on going to Walla Walla's Balloon Stampede on Saturday. We have to get up about 4:00am to drive up there and be there by 6:00am. It's an hour's drive as the sun comes up. There's a large craft show and then at noon we get to watch our dear friend JoAnne singing in her band, Kool Katz on the stage.

I really look forward to this every year. It's so much fun for us.

Next weekend, we'll be camping at the Hermiston Traditional Shoot with some friends. Mike has to work on Saturday, but it's close enough for him to drive back and forth that day.

I can't wait for the fun to begin!

Weekends, Reunions and Friends

Well, the weekend is almost here and we're planning a trip to the Tucannon for an archery shoot on Sunday. Mike works Saturday, so we'll be driving up for the day, not camping this year. I miss camping there and plan on doing some trips this year. The next weekend is our Colyak Traditional shoot and we will be camping for it. We have to get the trailer ready this week too.

I've been working on my 30 year high school reunion. We had a meeting last night and things are getting wrapped up for it. The date is July 31st-Aug. 2nd. I'm really looking forward to it. If you're a classmate and read my blog, please stay tuned. I'll be posting details in a day or two on all the sites.

I'm a member on Facebook and have hooked up with some old friends there that I may have never found if I hadn't signed up. I love chatting with everyone and catching up. Although, lately I've been a bit on the tired side with working more hours, so bear with me if I don't chat for long. As you know, I'm involved with several groups. I've also joined Gather.com. You earn points for and making friends. Then you turn in the points for giftcards or paypal money. How cool is that? I have a friend that has turned in several this past year and I'm just getting started. We can all use some easy money right? It is more time consuming though. I'm still trying to get a pattern going so I can earn my points and have some fun with it. I'm Jodi W. there if you sign in.

Duck Hunting in the Snow

Well, this was Andy a couple of weeks ago with his pheasants. He went with my brother. He's a bit tired at this point in time. Here are the guys duck hunting. Andy is standing and their buddy Scott is sitting.

Heatwave???

Well, it's now up to 19 degrees here this morning! That is up from the 4 that it was at 7:30am. We are expecting anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow over the weekend though. I've taken some before pictures so we can compare it after the storm comes and goes.

Is everyone ready for Christmas yet? We're not. We still have some shopping to do. I've been busy making up orders for people. I think I've got all the Christmas ones out now. I just have to finish up some scarves for local people.

My Staples are now out

I went to the surgeon and he pulled my staples today. I now have 4 scars on my belly, which is better than having the bad gallbladder.

This weekend is going to be cold. The weather folks are predicting snow! My sister is in Paris, France this week and she saw snow falling there too. I'm not ready for snow and colder weather, but it's not my decision, is it? I guess the sooner it comes and goes, the sooner we can enjoy SPRING! Yah, Spring, my favorite time of the year. I like it when the plants are getting green and lawns need mowing.

Well, that's about all I have to say for now.

Surgery is done and the Aliens are gone

I had my gallbladder and aliens removed on Monday.
I'm so glad it's over and I'm on the healing trail now. My after surgery nurses were great! I never felt like they were too busy to help me or anything like that. They made me very comfortable.

Today, I'm feeling better than yesterday and tomorrow should be even better.

Well, my friends, this year has been a long, rough one for us. Now, it's my turn to be in the hospital. I get to have my gallbladder removed. I have what most would call stones in there. My good friend JR calls them 'Aliens' and I say the aliens and their home have got to go! I've had too much pain this past 6 weeks or so and I'm ready to feel better, so on Dec. 1st, their coming out!

It should be a day surgery and I'll be home that afternoon or evening. Doc says maybe 2 weeks off and I'll be good to go for Christmas.

This is going to cut into my crocheting time for 2-3 days and that part doesn't make me very happy, but at least I'll feel better.

My Sister, the World Traveller

My sis just arrived in Vienna, Austria today. Last week she was in Argentina. She gets to the hotel in Argentina and the restaurant across the street is non other than a Hooters! Can you believe it? How funny is that? We can't even get one in the Tri-Cities and there's one in Argentina! The closest one to us is in Spokane Valley.

In December, she's going to Paris. What a job she has. She switched jobs in April and I think she's pretty happy there.

I'll post pictures when she starts sending them to me.

Crochet orders are starting to come in for Christmas. I expect to be pretty busy for a while.

We've started having our reunion meetings also. If any of you readers are from the Kamiakin class of 1979, please let me know so I can add you to the contact lists. If you can help out, we'd love to have you join up. It's a lot of fun making contact with former classmates(notice I did not put 'old' I used former in that sentence :)
It's been 30 years and we need to find as many of you as we can.

Yesterday, I went to a couple of bazaars and had fun running into friends and new crafters. I had the nicest chat with Mr. Fleming. He was my ceramics teacher at Kamiakin. What a memory flashbacks of people that we both know. It was really fun. If any of you would like to take some pottery lessons or have kids that are interested, let me know and I'll hook you up with him. I think I have a future student for him.

I also ran into Zana and some crafters that I see from time to time. It just seems like there's not enough time to talk to everyone. I handed out a few of my business cards for Etsy and my shop too. There are some new ideas out there that really stuck with me.

SNOW???

I get up this morning, turn on the weather channel and they are trying to tell me that there is a 50% chance of snow tonight! We live in the desert and normally don't see snow until December or even January and it only sticks around every 5 or 6 years or so. Getting it this early is not a good sign of what's to come. I hope they are wrong!

It'll be a good week to stay in and finish on my crochet orders. I'm started to see some on both stores now.

WooHoo!! It was an awesome game tonight!
We played Richland, which is a tough team. We were behind 12-8.
Andy got called in to punt the ball, which he did with great expertise, if I do say so myself. He got to punt 2 more times and it was incredible. We got another touchdown and an extra point to put us ahead 12-15. Then there was 1 minute left, they were moving down the field, until we caught an interception! And the game was ours. Wow is all I can say right now. It was a good game. Andy was so excited and he may get to punt next week too.

My brother's family invited everyone to a picnic yesterday in the park. Wouldn't you know it, the weather has been so beautiful for weeks and Mother Nature decided to rain before the picnic and the wind blew a bit all day. It was quite cooler than we expected. They had a great turnout, almost 100 made an appearance and Barry stayed awake for the whole 4-5 hours.

Mike and Andy went Sturgeon fishing yesterday with a friend. This is Andy's only fish that he caught. They estimate it to be 6.5 to 7 feet long! It took all 3 of them taking turns reeling it in to get it to the boat. They released all of them.Here's Andy struggling with the big fish.

Long Week, Nice Weekend

Last week was kind of long. My brother had a seizure on Monday night and got to spend 3 days in the hospital. They did another MRI and can see that 'Thelma' appears to be growing. Since he was in the hospital, he missed 2 appointments at the cancer center. He had one this morning and the other will be on Wednesday. We're all hoping that they can start his radiation and chemo treatments this week.

Mike and the boys went to Wenatchee to see his family. They had a nice time, went to a movie and had a big BBQ. I stayed home with the dogs, crocheted, watched videos and ate Chinese food. It was a very quiet weekend.

The Past Week

Well, my brother and SIL are back home now. They have been told that he can have radiation and chemotherapy for the tumor and his treatments can be done here locally. They didn't waste any time moving home when they got the news.
They should find out this week how soon he can start.

Last Thursday, my nephew had his gall bladder removed in the morning and was home mid-afternoon! I can't believe he didn't have to stay overnight for it. He had some pain over the weekend, but that was from moving around too much. Typical man, doing too much! He learned a lesson, let's hope it sticks this time. haha

We spent Saturday night and a different nephew's house for a BBQ and party. It was fun. We enjoyed ourselves and had lots of food. My sister's boys can both BBQ, smoke and do whatever with meat like no one else I know! They love to cook meat and it always tastes so yummy!

I've been trying to get some stock ready for the boat races. They are the last weekend of the month. I'm not sure if Mike is going this year or not. I might have to go too to sell everything. I haven't been there in a couple of years, so we'll see. They did really well last year on my stuff. I even had some special orders to work on until late Saturday night. I got them all done though and they were bought.

Over at Crochetmania, we're getting ready for a crochet or knitting olympics. What we do is to set a personal goal for ourselves and we can't start it until the torch is lit and have to finish when the torch is put out. Then we report how much we accomplished for out medal. It's pretty much on the honor system. I'm trying to decide what project or projects what I want to work on for it. It would be a good time to finish up a couple of my big WIPS to get done.
I'll post more on this when it gets closer to the Olympics starting.

Well, I don't know what the week is going to bring. We may be taking a trip to Wenatchee this weekend. We haven't decided yet on that.

Busy Week!

It's been a really busy week. I'm off work and have been running Andy around to and from football camp. He had practices in the mornings at the stadium and evening practices over in Richland. There were 14 schools or more involved in the camp. He has 2 weeks of rest and then he and Tyke will start summer conditioning at the school.

Today, we have our annual archery club picnic. Andy will get his first big game award for the deer he shot last fall. The first of many, I'm sure.

My brother and SIL are in town this weekend. I hope we can see them before they have to go back to Spokane. He is getting his stitches out on Monday from the biopsy that was done.

I've been working on a couple of afghans and some of the high school items that they will be selling in the fall. I hope to have a lot of things made up so that I can just restock them each week.

The weather has finally gotten hot here. It's been in the 80's this week. It will soon be in the 90's and 100's, I'm sure and we'll be wishing for the 80's again.

I have been a member of CrochetMania since Miss Kathy started it. It is a wonderful place to spend time and there are the most wonderful people on there. Friday, I came home from work and had a package. I opened it up and look what I found in there: This beautiful comfortghan! I was so surprised! I always say that timing is everything. That Friday night was actually cold and I used it all evening. It kept me warm with all those hugs that are wrapped in each square! I love you gals! Thank you so much!!!!

More Info. on Barry

We finally got some information on Barry's MRI on Friday. The surgeon says that the blood has mostly disappeared. There is still some blocking the view on one side of the Thalamus though. They can see 2 spots, but they can not tell if they are connected or seperated. He has scheduled a biopsy for Thursday morning. They hope to find out what this is in his brain.

Barry has named his Thalamus "Thelma". Thelma comes out occasionally and talks when Barry isn't aware of her. His daughter told him that it's no wonder his brain is scrambled, he's got a woman in there telling him what to do. haha
At least they have their sense of humor still.

My last day at work is June 13th. I'll be off for the summer. I'm looking forward to it so I can catch up on crochet items and get ready for winter sales and the boat races. I've been stocking up on a lot of cotton yarn for making those huggies and have been getting some orders already.

Andy has started football practice already. He's a little scared about his shoulder since breaking his collar bone last November. Hopefully, he'll get over that and be as tough as he needs to be to play well.

Please keep my brother and his family in your thoughts. We still have a tough road ahead for his recovery.

What's New With You?

Things are about the same for us here. The weather has changed again. Now it's decided to rain off and on and be cloudy. Although the temps are 65-70 now. It's not so bad, considering we were driving in snow about 3 weeks ago going to Spokane!

Well, my brother is doing better. He should be out of the rehab. facility today.
We saw them last weekend and he was given a night pass for Saturday. We had lunch with him and then he had to go to another therapy session. When he was done, he and my SIL came to her apartment and met us. It was wonderful to see him away from the center.

Saturday night we went to my nephew's house for a get to together. There were a quite a few folks there. My other nephew's family and my neice and her hubby were in town too, so it was nice to see them all.

Andy started football practice yesterday. Tighten your seatbelts and come along for the ride with us! He won't be done until November, unless he gets hurt. We're not ready to go through that again.

For those of you that watch NASCAR and have seen the past 2 weekends of cup racing know that my favorite driver, Greg Biffle, has come in 2nd in both races! WooHoo!! And Kasey Kahne has won both races! Keep it up you Washintonians!! It's great to see the PNW drivers doing so well. I'm so proud of you guys!

We sure miss our Tri-City Raceway. Now, they've gone and sold it for some wine thingy. I like wine once in a while, but the racing was much funner!

I think that's about it for now.

This is my brother with Mom and his PT therapy person. He walked from the elevator to meet us outside. He wasn't done walking yet. He walked around the patio and checked things out.

Heatwave!!

Ok, this is crazy!

It got up to 93 today and tomorrow is supposed to be 100!
I can not believe how hot it is now.

We are driving up to Spokane tomorrow to see my brother and his family.
He is doing really well with his physical therapy. He got to walk a few steps yesterday on his own! How wonderful it that, folks! It's been 2 weeks since I've been up there, due to some archery stuff we had last week.

There is also a flood warning for Kiona on the Yakima River this weekend. They are saying it could crest by Wednesday. It is expected to reach 13.3 feet, which flood stage is 13.0 feet.

It was 1996 when it flooded the last time and it was ugly! It flooded Benton City and West Richland also. Our archery range was under 3-4 feet of water. People weren't able to get into town on the normal roads. You had to come in a back road to get to most areas in Benton City. Mike actually went out and pumped a basement or two with his potty truck. It was interesting to say the least. We just don't have things like that happen here. It was a real eye opener, that's for sure.

I think I need to get some rest for the long drive tomorrow.

This is our dear friend Ray Wilson. Ray lost his battle with ALS last week. His service was yesterday. We will miss you so much!

My brother is doing better today. Mom, Dad and Sandi went up to see him. They started him on his therapy again on Saturday. He doesn't like the speech therapy at all, which doesn't surprise me! He's more of a physical guy and likes to be able to use the walker and such to get around. We'll be going back up next weekend, I'm pretty sure to see him and the family.

A Busy Weekend

Well, my brother was doing great with his rehab, then he got the flu this week. It's spread to patients and staff on his wing of the center. He's pretty tired and they've said, no visitors this weekend so he can rest and be ready for Monday's therapy sessions.

He was up Monday and Tuesday using the walker! What a boost for him. Then he got sick on Tuesday night.

We are doing an archery instruction on Saturday with some boy scouts. We've done this before and it's always a fun and interesting time.

After archery, we are attending a funeral service. A very dear friend of ours, Ray Wilson passed away last weekend. He had ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. We miss him so much already. He taught us so much about archery shooting and rules and regulations of the state club. He was always talking Mike and I into helping out with something. I guess he was molding us to be instructors and help spread the archery world to others.

After that, we plan to attend the Balloon Stampede in Walla Walla. We'll be watching the Night Glow, which is where the balloons light up and put on a show after dark. We have a good friend of ours that has a band and they are the feature for the night. It should be a fun night. Andy has invited his girlfriend to go along too. The balloons have been something that my sister, Andy and I usually go to every year that we can. We normally go to the lift off in the early morning.

Sunday is Mother's Day and I hope to go see Mom and Dad and get some rest & relaxation too.

What a Week!

We are going to Spokane tomorrow to see my brother and the family. He's making some small strides, but is also having some new problems. Please keep them all in your thoughts during this very difficult time.

We are hoping that we don't see snow tomorrow. Last weekend we drove through snow storms on the way there and home again. It was really strange.

I've had a sinus infection all week. Darn allergies and stress! It really knocked me down. I think I'm finally feeling a bit better today.

One of my closest friends is in town this weekend. Her daughter's family are moving here next weekend. What this means is that she and her hubby may be moving back this year also! Yippee! I sure hope they do. I've missed her so much since she moved away all those years ago. She stopped by today and we went to Dairy Queen for blizzards. She plans to be in town for the next 3-4 weekends to help her daughter get things moved here and settle in.

It's warm again this weekend. It feels so good to have 70 degrees instead of 40. I think it's supposed to cool off again this week, but for now it's wonderful.

My Brother

My brother is out of ICU now and eating REAL food! Not liquid food, but sandwiches, applesauce and anything else he feels like eating. It's a great thing. He might even be out of the hospital in a few days, going to a rehab. center near the hospital. He has a lot of work to do to get his left side working right.

As for me, I have a sinus infection I'm hoping to be rid of this week. The weather man is saying we could get snow tonight! I hate this weather. It is April and the cold has already damaged fruit trees in the area. 2 weekends ago we were at an archery shoot and got a sunburn. How weird is that?? Now we're freezing again.

Barry Can Talk!

They removed his breathing tube and he can talk. He even answered questions for the nurse. This is a real breakthrough!

We are going up to Spokane on Sunday to see him and I can't wait! He has made such wonderful progress since all this happened on Monday night. What a week!

An Update on Us

Well, it's been quite a while since I've posted here. We've just been busy.
We went to an archery shoot in Hermiston last weekend. We camped and it was so hot that we got a sunburn! It was wonderful.

Monday night my brother was flown to Spokane. He is still in the ICU. So far, all we really know is that he has a dark mass in the brain, very close to the brain stem. There could be a tumor there, but the MRI can not see through the dark mass right now. They have to wait until it dissipates and they can take another MRI of his brain. He is breathing on his own and hopefully will be able to talk to us once they take the tube out of his mouth. He has developed pneumonia also. He is having some trouble with his left side arm and leg, but they appear to be getting better every day.

He can communicate with his right hand. My niece set up a website to keep everyone updated on his progress. They are also getting lots of support from friends and family. The guestbook is already several pages of well wishes and prayers.

We are planning to drive up there on Sunday to see him and the rest of the family.

Please keep my brother and his family in your thoughts.

Oak Creek Elk Feeding Station

We went up to the elk feeding station on Saturday. There were a couple thousand elk up there. There are trucks that drive around and drop off hay for them to eat. It's quite amazing to see the elk all come down the hill in time to eat.

They have started something new since we were there a few years ago. They are now taking people for truck rides, by donation, to get up close to the elk. I think it's a great idea.

Too Much Snow Today

This was at about 2:30pm today. We got between 7 & 8 inches of snow today. There was almost 1/2 inch of ice under the snow. It took forever to get the car and truck warmed up enough to melt the ice.

The one below was about 10:00am this morning.
I have Monday off. My boss just called and said that the preschool is closed tomorrow for everyone, due to the weather.

I can not believe it's 2008 already! How did that happen?

As many of you have already noticed, we did not get our traditional Christmas cards done this year. I've been so busy with crochet orders that I did not even get them designed. Mike says that we'll get them out in June, but maybe sooner. haha I really will get them sent out some time, just not for Christmas this year.

I'm trying to get well again. Tyke came down the a cold/cough and is still coughing. I had the cold/flu combo and am still coughing. It's been really awful. One of these days we're going to wake up and not start coughing.

Mike is going bird hunting in the morning. KC hates it when they get the equipment out. It really freaks her out. She's laying under my computer chair at the moment. She just knows I'll protect her from the big bad duck calls and guns.

The weather here has been ok. We've had sun the past couple of days, but not too warm.

Christmas was fun. We were all at Mom and Dad's again. Most everyone was there except one niece and her husband. They were at his family this year. They were here a couple of weeks ago to see everyone though. My substitute sister (my sister's best friend since school) was there with a friend. They brought us a bunch of Alaska King Crab legs! It was awesome! That's a treat we don't get very often here. It was sooooooooooo good!

We expect a quiet New Year's Eve.

My Nutty Son

KaHS had their Sadie Hawkins dance last week. I can remember when we just asked the boy to go and he said 'yes' or 'no'. Well, not anymore!

Andy's girlfriend had this elaborate way of asking him to go. The theme was Super Heroes for the dance. She decided they would go wearing Superman shirts. She wrote a question in the snow at the school across the street and then asked him to be her Superman at Super Sadie Hawkins. How cute was that?

Of course, he couldn't just say yes. He had to come up with something good to answer her with. So this is what he came up with, with some input from all of us.

They went and had a fun time!

It has been a month since my last post and I'm sorry about that. I've been so busy with sales orders this month. I think I over extended myself this year. I came down sick with the cold/flu illness this past week. I'm now coughing and trying to get enough energy to finish my Christmas and food shopping today. In fact, Mike and Andy just put the tree up yesterday for us. The lights are on and the ornaments still need to be put on it.

I got a nice phone call from my gf K yesterday. She was headed to her SIL's for Christmas. They are hoping to transfer back here next year some time. I really hope so. I miss them all so much!

We had a few snowflakes come down yesterday. It's still possible that we could have a white Christmas.

I've been so busy making up things that I've got orders for, I haven't had much time for anything else. My sister and I did take last Saturday to go bazaaring and ended the day at Hubby's Pizza eating our favorite dill pickle pizza. It was so yummy!

One of the gal's I work with just returned from China with her sister and a new niece that her sister adopted there. It was quite the experience for them. They were there 2 weeks and got to see some of the tourist places too. She has some great stories to tell everyone. Her niece is 3 1/2 and a cutie.

I have 2 more weeks of 40 hours a week to work until the gal comes back that is on medical leave. It's been interesting trying to keep up with all my crochet orders while working full time.

Mike just left for the Tucannon to deer hunt. He and his BIL rented a trailer up there so they didn't have to tow any trailers or take a wall tent this time. Hopefully, they'll come back with meat in their coolers! They boys stayed home this time. Andy has the broken collar bone still and Tyke missed some school due to a sinus infection he had recently. They need to catch up on school work.

Andy is healing up pretty well. He thinks he can go everywhere without his arm sling, but I think he needs to wear it for a while more so that people aren't bumping into him. All he needs is to pop those bones out again and he will be in surgery for it.

Tomorrow we are going to my folks' again for my dad's 91st birthday. We're having taco salad, taco soup and whatever else gets brought over. It'll be a houseful, I'm sure.

Well, that about catches me up for now. I'll write more when I can.

Emergency Room!

The boys were all playing football across the street at the school and Andy broke his collar bone! He's been in some pain, but the meds. seem to be helping him sleep for now. He's in some funky strap thing that he has to wear all the time for 2 weeks. He can't do anything for 4 weeks, which rules out late hunting season in 2 weeks.

We're helping to host an archery shoot Sunday and the weather turned bad on us. It's windy and rainy today. It's going to be a cold football game this afternoon. We've had such nice weather lately that this is really depressing.

I'm Here, Just Busy

It's been a while since I've posted anything here. Things have been very busy.

Andy's team was undefeated, as was the JV and varsity teams. The varsity is the #1 seed in the playoffs for the state championship. They are ranked in the AP poll as #3 in the state this week. That's pretty awesome!

We had the first playoff game today against Hanford. They are a local team. The score was 45-10 and we won! Hanford is now done. We are playing Southridge next week. They are another local team.

The booster club has been selling lots of my stuff. I've got to make up some more things for next week's game.

I've got a few boobie pillow orders to fill soon. People are starting to think about Christmas gifts now.

For those of you that have been receiving my handmade cards for years, this year may be different. I have not had time to work on even the designing of them. I will try to send out a letter, but as Mike is telling everyone,"Don't expect cards until June." I hate to stop making them, but this year is just not working for me. Maybe after the holidays I can work on 2007 and 2008 ones and send them all out at once.

My sister and I went bazaar jumping last night and today. It was fun to get out and see the new ideas out there. I also gave out a few of my business cards. I didn't buy much but I won the cutest quilted turkey wall hanging for a raffle ticket I bought. I'll try to take a picture of it and post it for you to see.

Well, I'm going to go crochet some more boobies, so I can ship some out this week. You all take care and drop me a comment once in a while.
